Tex Mex Bar & Grill

An Anne & Steve review

I've been to Mexico a few times, nothing too interior Juarez, Tijuana, and of course the old Hussong's in Ensenada where the Margarita was born. I drank warmish beer with cops in military grey uniforms while playing drinking games with a legless man on a cart with dual electrode's hooked up to a battery to see who can hold it longer (it's a scam you always lose and pay for everyone's drinks including the cops). This is where according to Wikipedia, the Margarita was invented back in October, 1941 by bartender Don Carlos Orozco. He concocted the perfect mixture of equal parts tequila, Damiana (now Cointreau), and fresh squeezed lime, served over ice in a salt-rimmed glass for Margarita Henkel, daughter of the German Ambassador to Mexico.

If you want a good Margarita, you won't be disappointed here. The "Perfect Margarita" is just that, perfect. It is made with fresh juices, Grand Marnier and Sauza Commemorativo. Also available are Mojitos, Sangria and beer.

We invited our friends Kristin and John to come along with us on our Tex Mex venture. The food at Tex-Mex is simply prepared, fresh and delicious. The place is large and comfortable.

John ordered the sizzling fajita with beef and shrimp. This dish was fresh and flavorful, and smelled delicious. He thoroughly enjoyed every morsel.

Steve had the Texas baby back ribs which he raved about. The meat is plentiful, fresh and falls off the bone.

Kristin had the fish soft taco and a beef soft taco both exquisite. Anne had the enchilada combo one vegetable and two chicken with the real south of the border re-fried beans and rice and loved every bite. The refried beans are made from scratch and taste wholesome.

The guacamole was very good. It is made fresh daily. If you like your food very spicy, they make a homemade sauce in the kitchen that is out of this world.

We all loved the cheese bacon fries which were unbelievably good and with the kick ol' Margarita Steve was very satisfied. Nuff said.

The food here is fresh and delicious. We will be back!
