Asters An Anne & Steve review
We ordered the PEI mussels with a ginger-lemongrass-white wine broth that was heavenly. The sliced crispy garlic bread dunked into it is just as tasty as the mussels themselves and a real treat for the
senses. Anne had the grilled pork tenderloin with apple-fennel-raisin slaw with mapple butter sweet potato puree. Steve had the hanger steak with mashed potatoes and sweet tasting collard greens. Both were excellent and we cleaned our plates.
As we sat back and had our glass of red wine we could watch the outdoor firepit burn brightly while we relaxed. There is also an interesting enclosed wine kiosk and cigar room in the middle of the dining room.
Unfortunately, after a perfect evening we ordered a dessert that sounded incredible; apple pie with caramel covered cinnamon ice cream. What inexplicably came was a pile of crumbs with one vanilla scoop rolled in cinnamon. They comped the dessert and were
extremey accommodating, so all was forgiven. We intend to have many more delicious meals there again. The atmosphere was excellent and so was the food.
Also note that there is a renowned early bird special (a prix fixe) that is good until 6:00 pm Monday through Thursday.
This full course meal costs $15.95 and includes dessert and a beverage. 1015 South Street (Route 7)
